The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), released by Nintendo in 1990 in Japan and 1991 in North America, is widely regarded as one of the greatest gaming consoles ever made. Known as the Super Famicom in Japan, the SNES introduced 16-bit graphics, Mode 7 scaling and rotation effects, and a groundbreaking sound chip designed by Sony. The console delivered an unparalleled library of games that defined multiple genres.

Our collection features legendary SNES titles including Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, Final Fantasy VI, EarthBound, Street Fighter II Turbo, and many more. Each game runs in our browser-based emulator with full save state support and gamepad compatibility.

SNES Technical Specs & History

The SNES featured a Ricoh 5A22 CPU running at 3.58 MHz, 128KB of RAM, and could display up to 256 colors simultaneously from a palette of 32,768. Its custom DSP sound chip, the S-SMP, provided 8 channels of sampled audio that gave SNES games their distinctive rich soundtracks. The console sold over 49 million units worldwide and remained in production until 2003, making it one of the longest-running consoles in history.
