Chapter 1

Pallet Town to Pewter City

Choose a starter, complete Oak's delivery and earn the Boulder Badge.

  1. Train a balanced early party in Viridian Forest and carry Antidotes for Weedle poison.
  2. Use type advantages or solid neutral moves against Brock, then collect the Running Shoes east of Pewter.

Chapter 2

Cerulean and Vermilion

Clear Mt. Moon, meet Bill and defeat Misty and Lt. Surge.

  1. Choose a fossil in Mt. Moon, beat the Nugget Bridge trainers and help Bill before returning to Cerulean Gym.
  2. Board the S.S. Anne for HM01 Cut, then solve Vermilion Gym's switch puzzle and challenge Lt. Surge.

Chapter 3

Rock Tunnel and Celadon

Reach Lavender, stop Team Rocket in Celadon and earn the Rainbow Badge.

  1. Obtain Flash if desired, carry healing items through Rock Tunnel and visit Pokémon Tower before taking the Celadon route.
  2. Clear the Rocket Game Corner hideout, collect the Silph Scope and defeat Erika.

Chapter 4

Pokémon Tower, Fuchsia and Saffron

Rescue Mr. Fuji, earn Surf and defeat Team Rocket at Silph Co.

  1. Use the Silph Scope in Pokémon Tower to rescue Mr. Fuji and receive the Poké Flute.
  2. Reach Fuchsia, find Surf and the Gold Teeth in the Safari Zone, then clear Silph Co. before challenging Koga and Sabrina.

Chapter 5

Cinnabar and final badge

Explore the Pokémon Mansion and complete the Kanto gym circuit.

  1. Surf to Cinnabar, find the Secret Key inside Pokémon Mansion and defeat Blaine.
  2. Return to Viridian Gym, defeat Giovanni and prepare the required HMs for Victory Road.

Victory Road, Elite Four and Sevii Islands

Become Champion and open the expanded postgame.

  1. Build a team covering Ice, Fighting, Ghost or Dark, Electric and strong neutral damage before entering the League.
  2. After the credits, continue Celio's network quest across the Sevii Islands to unlock more areas and broader trading compatibility.
