Complete walkthrough
7 chapters from the opening stage through completion.
Kongo Jungle
Build the core roll-jump rhythm and defeat Very Gnawty.
- Visit DK's treehouse for a quick extra life before Jungle Hijinxs.
- Break suspicious walls with barrels; bonus entrances are often placed behind cracked terrain.
- For Very Gnawty, jump cleanly over each pass and avoid chasing after a missed hit.
Kongo Jungle cleared with its bonus rooms found.
Monkey Mines
Master barrel cannons, mine carts and Necky platform timing.
- In Mine Cart Carnage, jump later than the visual edge suggests to preserve distance.
- Watch barrel-cannon firing cycles for a full rotation before committing.
- Against Necky, use the tire to reach the falling barrel and throw only when the head is exposed.
Necky defeated.
Vine Valley
Cross treetop routes, water stages and narrow temple rooms.
- Use Expresso for long aerial glides but avoid landing directly on small enemies.
- In underwater stages, Enguarde's charge clears straight paths through clustered enemies.
- Mega Necky attacks from alternating sides; stay central until the nut trajectory is clear.
Vine Valley cleared.
Gorilla Glacier
Survive snowstorms, slippery caves and fast rope sequences.
- During whiteout sections, memorize short platform groups instead of rushing through the storm.
- Keep momentum on icy slopes but release run before tight landings.
- Really Gnawty's hops grow higher after each hit; move underneath only after the landing point is obvious.
Gorilla Glacier cleared.
Kremkroc Industries
Handle factory hazards, moving fuel and the poison-drum boss.
- In Oil Drum Alley, look for walls and floor gaps that hide multiple bonus chains.
- On moving-platform stages, collect fuel only when the return path is safe.
- For Dumb Drum, defeat each released enemy pair; the drum itself is not damaged directly.
Kremkroc Industries cleared.
Chimp Caverns and Gang-Plank Galleon
Finish the final caves and defeat King K. Rool.
- Preserve both Kongs through Manic Mincers so a single mistake does not end the attempt.
- Against K. Rool, jump over crown throws and read the cannonball pattern before crossing the deck.
- After the fake credits, stay ready: the fight resumes with faster crown attacks.
King K. Rool defeated.
Road to 101%
Audit every stage for undiscovered bonus rooms.
- An exclamation mark after a level name confirms all bonus rooms in that level were found.
- Return with the correct animal buddy when a bonus entrance needs a special break or jump.
- Save at Candy's station after clearing difficult bonus clusters so progress is preserved.
File displays 101%.
Secrets and field notes
Useful details for cleaner runs and full completion.
Roll-jump extension
Roll off a ledge and press jump while still in the roll animation to cross gaps that look too wide.
Level-name marker
The exclamation mark is your best 101% checklist: it appears when every bonus room in that stage is complete.
Kong strengths
Donkey can defeat heavier enemies by jumping on them, while Diddy moves and recovers faster.
Frequently asked questions
Fast answers to common progression problems.
What is maximum completion in Donkey Kong Country?
The file can reach 101% by finishing the game and discovering all bonus rooms.
How do I know a level is complete?
Look for an exclamation mark after the level name. It means every bonus room there has been found.
Why does K. Rool get back up after the credits?
Those first credits are a fake-out. Stay alert because the final phase begins immediately afterward.
